Urban Decay Cream Shadow

There was a time, waaaay back when I was in college, that I had every single Urban Decay eye shadow, pallete, lip gunk, liquid liner, lipstick, nail polish, powder and foundation that Urban Decay made. I was practically a walking product showroom. In the past 5 or 6 years I have beem underwhelmed (with the exception of their Primer Potion - it is amazing).

Once they stopped making lip gunk and nail polish I lost all interest in the company.

Until now.

They've just released 12 shades of creamy highly pigmented shadow, in a great tube w/wand applicator. I am very, very impressed.

Better swatches:

Do I love them? Yes.
Do I need them all? Thankfully, no.
At $17.00 they are $1.00 more than Urban Decay's regular eyeshadows - which isn't much of a bargain considering how long it takes to hit the pan on a dry shadow compared to using up or the drying out of a cream shadow.
I had to have two of course - Moonshine - it will make a fabulous base, and Delinquent, which is the perfect deep metallic purple - lovely!

Jelly What What?

So I saw this on Asos.com and had to order it out of curiosity.

Thankfully there's a favorable exchange rate right now, much to the chagrin of the British, but to the joy of the American consumer in love with all things unavailable or hard to find in the States.

What is it?

Jelly Pong Pong Venus Magical Pearls in Aurora.

I had no idea what this was when I ordered - but it was pretty!

Opened up:

And with the pod opened up:

So apparently these are little pearls of eyeshadow. You swirl your brush around and get a wash of color - similar to the concept of Guerlain Meteorites I am guessing.

After much swirling my white brush sure wasn't picking up much color.

Veeeery light swatch on the back of my hand:

So that was not exciting at all. But wait - what about smooshing the heck out of one of the 'magical pearls?'

Aha! A little smooshing and now we have some pigment!

Smooshed pearl on top, swirled pearl on the bottom.

So, in order to get a color that is worth wearing, you must 'pop' a pearl, which, in theory is kind of amusing, but for real life it creates quite a mess. I cannot see doing this on a daily basis. However the packaging is so pretty (I'm really a sucker for packaging) so I am totally keeping this.

Hello Kitty for McDonalds!

Now through February 26th (while supplies last) there are Hello Kitty themed watches in Happy Meals! Yay!

I got a My Melody one today. Thankfully I have a very small wrist. These are tiny, but the face is GINORMOUS!

Breaking News! Free polish!

Today Zoya announced that in honor of Earth Day they will be trading in old nail polish for new! Send in a minimum of six bottles of your polish (any brand other than Zoya) and pick an equal number of Zoya bottles. There is a $3.00 per bottle fee charged for shipping, but even after paying that it's like getting the Zoyas for half off. They will dispose of your chemically old nail polish in the proper manner to keep the toxic chemicals out of landfills and keep them from harming our environment. Click here for more details on the Zoya webpage.

Hello Kitty

Yeah, so I wish I had mad konad skills like the nailphile, but I don't, so this is the best I could do. This is from a fauxnad off of ebay from chic.gallery. Sally Hansen Salon Raven's Wing with Special white polish for Hello Kitty's head, and LA Nail striper in Rose for the bow.

Chanel Sirene

I don't know how I feel about this one. I ordered it from the UK and was very excited for it to arrive. But it looks almost identical to OPI Senorita Rosealita, and SpaRitual Strawberry Fields Forever. Even with a layer of Revlon ColorStay and Poshe it looks kind of dull.

Maybe it's because I've had to chop my nails down to nubbins lately, but I just couldn't really get into this polish. I'm sure it is gorgeous in the sun, but we haven't seen the sun in weeks here, just overcast and rain.

I tried to add a little interest with a coat of Love My Nails in Shining Star, but I'm still not feeling it. These are so pretty in the bottle, but the giant glitter stars never quite lay flat on the nail and I'm afraid I'll start picking at it.
